Open Science Centre

Open Science Centre

Open Science Center (OSC) is a transformative initiative by Open Space Foundation, dedicated to providing a dynamic platform for students and children in rural and socio-economically marginalized areas of our nation. Recognizing the lack of science celebration in schools, our team has been tirelessly working to bridge this gap and bring scientific communication to the forefront.

Driven by the belief that science education should extend beyond institutional frameworks, OSC aims to foster scientific curiosity and learning within communities through on-ground interventions. Our vision is to establish open science centres in schools situated in rural and inaccessible regions, empowering students through community involvement, collaborations between professional-amateur scientists and students, and partnerships with esteemed academic institutes.

At these centres, students will receive training, facilitation, and access to basic and simple experiment kits and books, enabling them to explore the wonders of science first-hand. Currently, OSC is operational in two government schools and one low-budget private school, namely Municipal Middle School in Tirupur, Panchayat Union Middle School in Aarumugagondanur, and AVM Matric Public School in Sevoor, Tamil Nadu.

We invite institutions to join us in launching Open Science Centres in their schools. The application process is open year-round, and successful applicants will be announced annually in May.

Together, let’s unlock the potential of future astronomers, astrophysicists, and space explorers
