Luna Camp

Welcome to the Open Space Foundation’s Luna Camp 2023! We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for this exciting state-level Lunar Education and Exploration enrichment program. Luna Camp 2023 offers students a unique gateway to explore lunar expeditions through engaging hands-on experiences.

What awaits LUNA CAMP participants?

The state-level camp is scheduled for November 2023 and will feature lectures by esteemed experts and scientists, along with practical workshops. At LUNA CAMP, all state-level participants will engage in direct interactions with leading scientists and experts. Each participant will receive their own RR40NS refractor telescope kit and will actively participate in a dedicated training session to assemble the telescope. This hands-on experience marks the beginning of their exciting journey into the world of astronomy observation. LUNA CAMP offers a chance to significantly enhance your knowledge of lunar exploration, all while being mentored by seasoned professionals in the field. As a bonus, all state camp attendees and their respective teachers will be honoured with participation certificates as a testament to their valuable experience.

Who Can Participate?

If you are a student currently enrolled in class 8th in Tamil Nadu schools, Luna Camp 2023 is open to you.

Application and Selection process Admission to the final camp is granted through a two-level screening test.

Step 1: School Registration

Schools interested in their students joining the camp should register and secure their spot by September 25, 2023.

Step 2: Luna Talent Test

This is a school-level, one-hour objective type test comprising 30 questions related to the Moon. It is scheduled to be conducted on October 4, 2023. The evaluation of the test should be carried out by the designated teacher in charge, and the scoresheet must be shared with the Open Space Foundation (OSF) within the specified timeframe. Registered schools will receive detailed instructions on how to conduct the test, including the question paper and answer key. Please note that schools that fail to submit their scores on time or submit them after the deadline will be automatically disqualified from the screening process.

Step 3: District Level Screening

The top two scorers from each school will advance to the district level screening. This phase will feature subjective questions centred around the theme “Lunar Exploration: Scope and Prospects.” The screen will happen in respective schools. Detailed logistical information regarding the test will be communicated to schools in advance. The evaluation of the district level test will be conducted by the Open Space Foundation, and three students from each district will be selected to participate in LUNA CAMP 2023, scheduled for November 2023.

Prizes and Benefits

  1. All the state camp participants and teachers will receive participation certificates and feedback notes for their moon exploration ideas.
  2. Participants will receive a basic refractor telescope kit and a training session to construct the telescope to witness the Moon.
